Clare Makwana's Profile
Clare Makwana is a talented and experienced printmaker currently working and
editioning in partnership with Stonyhill Studio and Press, Wakefield.
Clare achieved a Craft and Design Diploma through Christchurch Polytechnic with
a majors in: Printmaking and Bookbinding.
She then studied at the Auckland College of Education, and accomplished a
Teaching Diploma specialising in: Art and Art History.
Following University Clare taught: Art, Printmaking, Design and Art History
(senior levels) for Mt. Roskill Grammar, Takapuna Grammar and Epsom Girls
Grammar in Auckland.
Private Workshops in Bookbinding and Printmaking were run for Auckland City Art
School, she also taught night classes in Bookbinding and General Art.
Clare is presently developing a series of prints, cards and drawings based on
the "language of symbols", utilising woodblock, collage and intaglio techniques
while exploring juxtapositions of type and textures.
