Bridget Bidwell's Profile

Based in Blenheim, Bridget Bidwill studied at the Ilam School of Art, completing her Diploma of Fine Arts in paintings in 1977. She travelled and lived in Europe for several years, returning to New Zealand in 1983.
Mainly working with oils on gesso panels, canvas and primed paper, Bridget has recently become 'an avid user' of chalk pastels.
"I do a lot of drawing with a pair of scissors and in this way elements and shapes can be moved around forming collages, rather than working drawings. I recycle; I paint over old works and re-use shapes and images for years."
