Sally Burton's Profile
The clear light and big spaces of the South Island provide the structure underpinning much of Sally Burton's work - often overlaid with bowls and vessel forms, with all their implications.
Sally Burton graduated from the School of Fine Arts at Canterbury University in the late 1960s. Having taught art for many years, she now paints full time. She has been a judge for the World of Wearable Art event since 1999.
Sally Burton lives on the Waimea Plains. The Richmond and Mount Arthur Ranges, and the Waimea River flowing out to sea, provide a rich visual stimulus for her paintings.
