Austin Davies's Profile

Nelson painter Austin Davies moved to New Zealand from England over 25 years ago, having qualified in painting at Liverpool University School of Art. He has works in civic collections in Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Salford and Hertford College, Oxford – and in private collections around the world.
He exhibits in several galleries throughout New Zealand and in London at the Coombs Contemporary Gallery.
Austin Davies states: "I am a painter. I've always been a painter. It's what I do."
His work frequently deals with the illusion of space, he says, manipulating perspective to simulate on a flat surface three dimensional structure.
