Eldred Wisdom's Profile

Eldred Wisdom creates mixed media artworks which he describes as "the portrayal of an embracing 'silence' which seeks to illuminate forms of life."
Using found objects from nature to evoke a personal response in the observer, the works are intended to reveal, in simple form, the complexities and mysteries of life, light and space.
Wisdom says he has devoted the whole of his professional life to the practice of his art.
He was born in Rakaia, mid-Canterbury in 1941 and graduated from the University of Canterbury School of Art with an Honours Diploma in painting in 1973.
